Everyone needs a level of discipline in their life. To be the very best version of our self we absolutely need balance. So here are some tips that I use to get myself in check
In the heart of any successful person is discipline, more importantly, self-discipline. Our thoughts, our emotions, our behaviors and our habits. All of them need to be in check. If you want to achieve the goals you set you must understand how to discipline yourself.
❀ H A B I T
Most of our lives make up what we do as a habit. It’s autopilot. Developing healthy, good habits help to enlist discipline. This can be waking up early, sticking to a work out plan or spending less time on your phone. Developing new habits help to bring balance, happiness and success into your life.
❀ S L E E P
Sleep is something I talk about in most of my posts. Getting a proper REM sleep is important if you want to get anything else done. If you don’t it affects mood, motivation, the ability to focus and our overall health.
Don’t put it off, prioritize a good nights sleep.
❀ O R G A N I S A T I O N
Organisation is key to self discipline. Having everything planned and organised means focusing on the little things that matter even easier.
Making your bed in the morning, tidying your desk at the end of every day and setting out a day plan helps you to feel more relaxed and rationalize the things you can get done in one day. In turn you can focus on the things that really matter.
❀ T I M E M A N A G E M E N T
Without time management we can all end up way off track. You need to leave yourself time to get everything done. The more you do this the better you get at determining how much time you need per task or event.
Not only that you become so much more reliable which is extremely important for anybody in any work, social and people situation.
Lists are great for this. Priority lists that have “urgent” and “non urgent” sections. When you start with that, the rest follows.
Stick to the time frames you have given yourself to enhance your self-discipline.
❀ C O N S I S T E N C Y
Of course, all of these habits would be pointless without persistence. Consistency is a habit that helps us not to give up, even when it seems impossible. It’s also one of the hardest habits to create and maintain. There are many ways to instill this habit but one of the best ways is to come up with profound reasons as to why you want the things in life that you do, how you’re going to get there and when you want to get there by. When your reasons are strong enough it will be a lot easier to keep it up.
